Local Community & State Scholarships

Centennial Scholarship
A Utah Legislative program for students who graduate from high school earlier than their class. Amounts range from $250 to $1,000.Contact your high school counselor for information. Documentation is required and must be submitted to the scholarship coordinator at DSU. Application available on-line at: Centennial Scholarship.

New Century Scholarship
A Utah Legislative Program for high school students who complete the requirements for an Associates Degree while in high school. For information on this scholarship, please go contact your high school counselor for details.

Gump and Ayers Scholarship Fund for Single Mothers
The Gump & Ayers Scholarship Fund provides a one-time scholarship to a Utah woman who is a high school graduate and a single mother pursuing higher education to provide tools for the financial security and support of herself and her family. For more details, see the scholarship application.

Foster Care – Olene S. Walker Transition to Adult Living (TAL) Scholarship
Designed to assist qualified youth who are transitioning out of state foster care to complete a post-secondary education program (degree or certificate) at one of the Utah System of Higher Education institutions. Applicants will be selected based on their strong desire to complete a post-secondary program of study and financial need. The maximum year scholarship award is $5,000 for full-time enrollment (12 or more credit hours), $3750 for three quarter-time enrollment (9-11 hours), and $2500 for part-time enrollment (6-8 hours). Scholarship is renewable based on satisfactory academic progress and availability of funds. Students must re-apply each year. April 15th Deadline.

BigSun Athletic Scholarship
The BigSun Organization helps young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. They offer annual scholarships to student athletes in all sports. Applicants must be high school seniors or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution. June 19th Deadline.

Dixie Power
Offers $2,000 scholarships to High School Seniors whose parents/guardians are members/consumers of Dixie Power. Early deadline. Contact Dixie Power for applications and information. November 30th Deadline

Daughters of the American Revolution, Color Country Chapter
Awards scholarships through the DAR scholarship committee. All applicants must be citizens of the United States and must attend a accredited college or university in the United States. Applicants must obtain a letter of sponsorship from their local DAR chapter. For more information please contact Chapter Scholarship Chairperson, Dyanna M Matthews dyannamichele@beyondbb.com.

Jacobsen Scholarship Fund
Offered through the Deseret Trust Company, the Jacobsen Foundation accepts applications for fall (deadline May 31) and spring (deadline October 15) semesters. Students must be members in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and complete the application process for each semester. The completed application should be submitted for review to: The Jacobsen Fund 1400 Foothill Drive, Suite 25, Salt Lake City, UT 84108. Although the Foundation does offer renewal scholarships, renewal is not guaranteed.

Moon Lake Electric Association
Offers educational assistance programs to High School Seniors whose parents/guardians are members of the Moon Lake Electric Association (located in Roosevelt Utah). For Information and applications visit Moon Lake Electric Website.

PFLAG-SLC
Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays is offering five, $1,000 scholarships. Deadline is June 30th. For detailed Information, requirements and an application please contact slcpflag@gmail.com.

Lightfoot Foundation
For students from Idaho offers scholarships for student from the Treasure Valley area. Applicants must have a 2.5 Cumulative GPA to apply and show financial need. For more information and applications visit www.lightfootfoundation.com

Hispanic Dental Association Scholarship
The Hispanic Dental Association Foundation is committed to supporting students through the educational process by awarding grants and scholarships to individuals with strong support from corporate partners and individual donors: Colgate-Palmolive, Procter & Gamble, A-dec, Dr Juan Villarreal, Dr Esperanza Rodriguez and HDA members. Applicants should show commitment and dedication in improving and serving the oral health of the Hispanic community.

National Federation of the Blind of Utah
Offers two levels of scholarships to students who are blind or visually impaired. The national scholarships range from $3,000 to $12,000 and the application deadline is March 31st. The state scholarships range from $500 to $1500 and the state deadline is April 15th. Saccomanno Higher Education Foundation
Offers scholarships to promote the educational pursuits of students in financial need, thus enabling them to improve their lives, the lives of their families, and those of their community. Open to residents of Carbon County Utah and Mesa County Colorado. Applications are available from high school counselors in the designated counties. For more information visit www.saccomannoed.org

Utah Cattle-woman Association

Utah Chapter of the Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters
Offers $1000 scholarships to students majoring in business, insurance or finance. Applications can be downloaded at utah.cpcusociety.org/ deadline is March 10th.

Utah Water Conservation Forum Annual Scholarship
Offers three $1,000 scholarship awarded to a Utah resident pursuing a degree in water management related field such as engineering, planning architecture, landscape architecture, horticulture and agricultural science. Washington County School District
Offers scholarships to graduating high school students from Washington county, based on academic merit, financial need, life achievements, and overcoming challenges and difficulties. Please contact your high school counselor for more information.

YouthLINC
Sponsored by Chase and the George S Eccles Foundation, offers Scholarships to Utah’s outstanding young humanitarians. These awards are designed to recognize students who have given service on behalf of genuinely needy individuals or communities. Deadline is March 10th. National Scholarship Programs

Asian Pacific Islander Organization Scholarships
Open to Asian and/or Pacific Islander students. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 and must apply for FAFSA by February 1st. Submit one letter of recommendation.www.apiasf.org

Boy Scouts of America, National Eagle Scout Scholarship
Must be an Eagle Scout who is a graduating high school senior. Selection is based on financial need, scholastic accomplishment, involvement in Scouting, school and community activities. Twelve $3,000 and four $4,000 awards. January 30th deadline. Call (801) 528-3663 or visit their website.

Brock Blake Student Entrepreneur of the Year Scholarship
Brock Blake, CEO of Lendio won a similar scholarship in an entrepreneur contest during college. He used the money to start his own career as an entrepreneur, and now wants to give back and help other aspiring business owners get a similar head start.

The Brock Blake Student Entrepreneur of the Year scholarship will award $2,500 every year to a student who has demonstrated excellence in entrepreneurship. The applicant should be an enrolled student in undergraduate or graduate (MBA) studies. The student must be enrolled in a 2 or 4 year accredited college or university in the United States of America. They must be a full-time student and U.S. citizen (minimum of 12 credits for undergraduate, 9 credits for graduate) with a minimum 3.2 GPA. To apply, submit a 500: 1,000 word essay along with your contact information to scholarship@lendio.com (see official rules and terms). Application Deadline is July 1st.

Department of Energy DOE Scholarship Program
Provides scholarships; experience and training that will prepare and motivate students to pursue careers with DOE. Must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years or older, minimum 2.9 GPA. Program information and applications

Gates Millennium Scholarship Program
Established in 1999 with a 1 billion dollar grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The foundations goal is to promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunity for minority students with significant financial need.

Google, Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship
For female undergraduate and graduate students entering their Senior year of undergraduate studies in 2008-09. Must be in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field. Minimum of 3.5 GPA. For complete details please visit www.google.com/anitaborg Deadline is February 1st.

Indian Heath Services Scholarship (IHS)
This program is part of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (Public Law 94-437). Applicants must be an American Indian or Alaska Native. The Navajo area office is located at P.O. BaerReintegration Scholarships
Provided to help people with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders or bipolar disorder acquire educational and vocational skills, necessary to reintegrate into society, secure jobs and realize their full potential. NEWH The Hospitality Industry Network
NEWH ,INC. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the Hospitality Industry. It is their goal to further the Hospitality industry through education. They are offering scholarships to students who are pursuing career affiliated with the Hospitality industry. Requirements are: Must have completed 50% of the requirements for a degree or certification program in which enrolled. Must demonstrate financial need. Orphan Foundation of America (OFA)
In conjunction with the Casey Family Programs and other generous sponsors offers approximately 100 new scholarships annually for young people out of foster care. These scholarships range from $2500 to $6000 per year and are renewable with continued eligibility for up to six years or until the student attains their Bachelor’s Degree or technical certificate/diploma, whichever comes first. SAE Engineering Scholarship Program
SAE offers a number of scholarships for high school seniors who have intentions of majoring in Engineering or a related science at an accredited university. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA for 10th and 11th grades. Amounts vary from $1,000 to $10,000. See SAE Engineering Scholarship website for more information.

The Willy the Plumber Scholarship
The Willy the Plumber Scholarship is available to enable the children of inmates in the state’s correctional facilities to pursue a higher education. First grants will be awarded in fall 2013. Intended recipients are graduates of any high school in the State of Utah who will be attending a two or four-year accredited public nonprofit college, university or vocational/technical school whose parent, or individual acting in the role, are currently incarcerated in the Utah State Prison system, or have a history of chronic incarceration and are likely to return to prison while the student is pursuing post-secondary education. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a GPA of 3.0. However, students with GPAs below this standard will be considered in the context of their life circumstances as demonstrated in their essay and letters of recommendation. Tongan-American Society Scholarship Fund
$100 to $500 scholarships to members of Tongan community. Requires extra curricular activities, financial need and good GPA. May 15th deadline. U.S. Bank Internet Scholarship Program:
